Located just south of the city, Da Nang International Airport is only a short drive from the coastline and serves as a starting point for central Vietnam, from Hội An to Mỹ Sơn. The terminal is compact but functional: a single main hall, rows of plastic chairs, blue suitcases and Vietnamese families waiting together. While waiting in the seating area, I saw an elderly traveler resting as his companion knelt to help him put his shoes back on, carefully tying the laces. That small gesture suddenly made the terminal feel quiet and intimate, reminding me that the most moving part of travel is not outside the window, but in these moments of care between people. Leaving the building, taxis, buses and relatives picking someone up all share the same lane, mixed with sea air and exhaust — signalling that you’re not just at an airport, but at the edge of a city opening toward the sea.
