Baishatun Gongtian Temple, located in Tongxiao Township, Miaoli County, is dedicated to Mazu, the Goddess of the Sea. Known for its strong local devotion, the temple hosts the famous annual Baishatun Mazu Pilgrimage, a walking journey of about 400 km to Chaotian Temple in Beigang, Yunlin. This event is considered one of Taiwan’s most iconic religious and cultural traditions.
